Where is the world's longest floating bridge?Right here. The Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, officially known as the Governor Albert D. Rosellini Bridge, is the world’s longest and widest floating bridge. Stretching 7,710 feet (2,350 meters) across Lake Washington, it connects Seattle to Medina and measures 116 feet (35 meters) wide at its midpoint. Opened in April 2016, this modern bridge replaced the original 1963 structure, providing six lanes—four general-purpose and two high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes—as well as a 14-foot-wide path for cyclists and pedestrians, improving both traffic flow and safety. Designed to address Lake Washington’s deep waters and soft lakebed, engineers built the bridge on 77 massive concrete pontoons that float on the surface, anchored by cables to the lakebed for stability. This innovative design allows the bridge to support heavy traffic while adapting to the unique environmental challenges of the area.
