After a lot of dreaming and planning, we were able to take a family trip to Spain and Portugal. It was an unforgettable experience, even with the typical travel snags along the way (lost luggage, tummy bugs, HOT humid weather, etc). We biked our way through Madrid, toured a castle, slept in a palace, explored cathedrals, practiced Spanish and Portuguese language, enjoyed a night of flamenco, learned to make paella from a Spanish chef, kayaked in a glass bottom boat, gobbled pastel de nata (Portuguese custard tarts), walked ALOT (logged 8 miles our last day), took a dip in the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, cruised the Douro Valley, experienced all modes of transportation available (bike, tuk-tuk, train, bus, subway, car, plane), tasted lots of gelato . . . and so much more. Most of all, we are so grateful for the privilege to explore the beautiful landscape, and unique cultures / peoples of Spain and Portugal. Can't wait to start planning our next adventure!
